Spring has well and truly arrived; despite the unseasonably cold weather we've been having lately. Longer days, blue skies, sunshine, fresh blooms and invites for weekend picnics in the park, the countdown has officially begun for the Summer Season. We tend to put a lot of pressure on ourselves in the lead up to the warmer months, trying to achieve the perfect ‘summer bod’, whether that involves smashing it out at Bootcamp on a Saturday morning, or depriving ourselves of those delicious treats that keep us in the all too important ‘sane’ headspace. No one needs that kind of pressure – we need to love and nourish ourselves, bumps and all!

You may have seen this Instagram food trend popping up on your social media feeds lately – if not, these drool-worthy, brightly coloured, too beautiful to eat bowls of deliciousness need to get on your radar! The nourishing, nutrition packed smoothie base is thick & tasty, and the toppings you choose to add will be sure to keep you going until lunchtime, without making you feel bloated.
How to make it:
Green Spirulina Smoothie Bowl
- 5 frozen bananas
- 1/2 teaspoon naturally green spirulina
- few leaves of fresh mint
- the juice of half a lime
- few small pieces of dark chocolate (optional)
- 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk (or your choice of milk)
- Blend all the ingredients and put in your smoothie bowl.
- Top the bowl with whatever you like. I chose dragon fruit balls and spirulina energy bites.

- Nice Cream
Need we say more? One of the great things about the warmer months is that there is always an excuse to indulge in a cheeky ice-cream. Now, you can indulge without feeling so guilty. Nice cream essentially replaces a cream base with frozen bananas. Just blitz them up with your fave ingredients and you’re away!
- Frozen Bananas, cut into small rounds
1/4 Cup Almond Milk
1 Tablespoon Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
For the toppings
- Tablespoon Crushed Hazelnuts
- 1 Tablespoon Nut Butter (peanut, almond, or cashew)
- 1 Tablespoon Cacao Nibs
- 1/2 Sliced Banana
- Edible flowers

Golden Turmeric Latte
- 600 ml Unsweetened almond milk
- 1 1/2 tsp. Turmeric powder
- Inch grated ginger
- 1 tsp. Honey
- 1/2 tsp. Cinnamon
- 1 tsp. Coconut oil
In a pan on a medium heat add all the ingredients, for the ginger squeeze the grated pulp so just the juice is used in the latte discard the pulp. Heat until just before boiling whisking all the time for about 6 mins. Serve immediately.
