Innovotherapy uses a hand held INNOVO® controller attached to a two part garment. This sends targeted impulses (neuromuscular electrical stimulation) via a set of conductive pads attached to your upper thigh and buttocks, to safely and effectively activate all the muscles of the pelvic floor.
It is a proven technology which has been designed to optimally strengthen your pelvic floor with 180 perfect contractions per session. Regularly applying this cycle of contraction and relaxation will help to improve your pelvic floor muscle tone, strength, endurance and in turn your bladder control.
For ultimate results the full Innovotherapy programme involves completing 30 minute sessions three to six times a week.
Results from a study prove that women who experience stress incontinence will experience significant improvements in as little as four weeks by using INNOVO® five days a week for 30 minutes. After 12 weeks of treatment the participants were defined as having ‘dry’ or ‘mild’ severity of symptoms.1

There are three types of incontinence (see below) all of which can be treated by Innovotherapy. Types of incontinence:
Stress Incontinence - when leaks accidentally occur from coughing, sneezing, laughing, jumping or doing heavy lifting. These simple movements put pressure on the bladder and, should your pelvic floor muscles be unable to tighten enough, will cause a leak. Stress incontinence is the most common type of female bladder weakness. It can happen at any age however is more common during pregnancy, after childbirth and during stages of menopause.2
Urge Incontinence - when there is a sudden and uncontrollable urge to urinate, often with little warning. Symptoms of Urge Incontinence include needing to urinate often even in the night. It is thought to be caused by an overactive detrusor muscle that sends incorrect signals to the brain telling it that it that the bladder is already full, even when it is not.
Mixed Incontinence - it is possible to suffer from both types of urinary incontinence at the same time. One type is usually more pronounced than the other, and it is advised to treat the more serious type of weakness first.
Men can also use Innovotherapy. 1 in 10 men suffer the symptoms of bladder weakness at some time in their lives,3 commonly associated with prostate enlargement and / or as a consequence of prostate surgery. Pelvic floor exercises, or Kegels, involve voluntary contraction of the pelvic floor muscles. For many people this can be difficult and sometimes are not done accurately. Doctors also recommend doing 300 Kegel contractions a day for 4-6 months4 for significant results which can be quite time consuming and hard to keep to. INNOVO® uses targeted impulses to accurately and effectively stimulate the pelvic floor muscles with 180 perfect contractions every session.
